Dear friends and family,

I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to me. Imagine a community that is home to an unnumbered Mozambiquan refugees who came there twenty years ago to escape the war. Most arrived on foot, walking for days through Kruger National Park, following power lines so as not to get lost in the bush. Many were attacked and killed by the lions of this popular tourist attraction and didn’t make it to what is now called Cork. Today Cork is an abandoned community; it has no school or medical facilities, no nurse, no doctor. Many of the children are orphaned. They have no identification. The lack of ID means no social grants and they have no legal means of obtaining income to buy food, medication or clothing. Without identity cards they cannot return to a now peaceful Mozambique, neither can they work legally.

I will be leaving in early March with a small group from my church. We will be going to Cork, South Africa for approximately 12 days. The purpose of our trip is:

·        First, we will be allowing God to work in our lives through the personal enrichment that comes from this type of a mission trip.

·        Second, this Prayer Journey will help us focus our individual prayers by traveling to a foreign land and praying 'on-site with insight.' We will pray for the Cork and African people that God may open their eyes and hearts to the message of Jesus, and to help them grow in their Christian walk.

·        We will also be doing some construction. The small group of four and their children who are missionaries already living in Cork, are trying to raise funds and volunteers to help build ten thousand homes for the orphans of Cork. Each home cost approximately $2000 US.

I'm excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead. I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise $2100 by March 10. If you can support me in a financial way, I would be very grateful. I would also like to say thank you to those who have supported me in my past missions. And, most importantly, I also need your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to be successful as we follow God's leading in this country. Without prayer, nothing will happen.

If you would like to be part of this mission through your financial support, send a check to 301 Cedar Ridge Dr., Wylie, TX. 75098. Make your check out to: New Hope Christian Church. This is tax deductible.
(Please do not put my name any where on the check and please attach a separate note designating it for Kara Stevens-So. Africa.)

Thank you for your prayers and support.

With love,

Kara Stevens
